With each successive race throughout the last several years, the Commodore’s Cup has become bigger, better and one of the most coveted in Asia. The loud whistle of the horn will spark off Subic Bay with four days of windward/leeward and passage races.
It is designed to immediately follow the popular biannual events that draw the international yachting fraternity of grand prix keelboats and sailors from Hong Kong. This includes the San Fernando Race and in alternation with the Rolex China Sea Race since 1962.
Inshore races have been held after most China Sea Races, sometimes making up the event into the China Sea Race Series, one of which is the Commodore’s Cup Regatta - now in its 7th year - organized by the Saturday Afternoon Gentleman’s Sailing (SAGS) club of Subic Bay, under the auspices of the Philippine Sailing Association in conjunction with The Lighthouse Marina Resort, Watercraft Ventures, Inc., Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Philippine Coast Guard.
This is made possible by the sponsorship of: Subic Bay International Terminal Corp, Cebu Pacific Air (Cebupacificair.com), Tanduay Distillers Inc., San Miguel Brewery, Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce (SBFCC), Ayala Harbor Point Mall, IYFR, Standard Insurance, Broadwater Marine, Department of Tourism, North Philippines Visitors Bureau (NPVB), Quiksilver, Paddy’s Irish Cafe & Pub, Liquid Xperience, Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Neil Pryde and PhilPlans First Inc.; Together with hotel partners: Buma Subic Hotel & Restaurant, Terrace Hotel, Bayfront Hotel, Forest View, Subic Bay Peninsular, Vista Marina, Mansion Garden and Discovery Shores.
